About Sharron

When we first met Bololani he was unable to speak of his experience of being an orphan, as he actually lived on the streets and committed crime to

NMMU 8  (1) Dr Sharron Frood is one of the founding directors of The GoGo Trust and leads the organisation.

Sharron trained and qualified as a Paediatric Nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London before starting to work with children who are living as AIDS orphans in the township communities of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Sharron manages the organisation on a day-to-day basis, as well as travelling to speak at conferences and organisations to raise the profile of the GoGo Trust activities and to raise awareness regarding the life challenges of widows and orphans affected in the HIV/AIDS pandemic living in the township communities of South Africa.

Sharron successfully completed a PhD at the Nelson Mandella Metropolitan University in April 2014. The title of this PhD is “Strategies to provide care and support to children living as AIDS orphans in the township communities”.

She is currently based in the UK but returns regularly to South Africa and fulfils speaking engagements in the UK and in Europe.
